Xiaomi Group recently launched its first Vision Gran Turismo concept car, the Xiaomi Vision GT, at an event in Barcelona, Spain. This car was developed at the invitation of Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo series, and is designed specifically for the GT driving simulation platform. Xiaomi is the first Chinese brand invited to join the Vision Gran Turismo project.

Recently, Xiaomi Group held a global launch event in Barcelona, Spain, where it officially unveiled its first Vision Gran Turismo concept car — Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo (hereinafter referred to as Xiaomi Vision GT). The concept car was specially created by Xiaomi at the invitation of Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of the Gran Turismo series, and was tailor-made exclusively for the GT driving simulation platform. Notably, Xiaomi has become the first Chinese brand ever invited to participate in the Vision Gran Turismo project.

Kazunori Yamauchi commented, “While maintaining a minimalist design language, the overall design of Xiaomi Vision GT presents an irresistibly captivating sense of flowing curves that is difficult to put into words.” He also noted that the rear design strongly reflects Xiaomi’s brand identity, and that the car’s aerodynamic concept left a particularly deep impression.

The core design philosophy of Xiaomi Vision GT is inspired by the sculpting power of wind. Starting from the concept of wind-shaped forms, the design team deliberately avoided sharp, artificial edges, aiming to meet aerodynamic requirements without adding unnecessary components. To achieve this, the design emphasizes integrating details into the whole. The cockpit takes the form of a floating water droplet, with every surface optimized aerodynamically. Each structural element adopts an airfoil cross-section, resulting in an exceptionally clean and cohesive visual appearance.

Inheriting Xiaomi’s automotive family design language, the signature cross-shaped headlights not only guide airflow but also blend seamlessly with the body. The halo-style taillights are innovatively integrated into the rear airflow channels. A combination of hollowed air passages, interwoven structures, a precisely engineered underbody airflow system, semi-transparent magnetically suspended floating wheel covers with black-hole ring wheels, and an active rear wake control system together deliver outstanding aerodynamic performance.

Through repeated simulation testing, Xiaomi Vision GT achieved an aerodynamic efficiency value of 4.1, a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29, and a downforce level of −1.2.

Beyond exterior design, Xiaomi introduced the “Sofa Racer” driving philosophy, aiming to perfectly balance extreme driving control with comfort. On Xiaomi Vision GT, this philosophy takes shape as an immersive and intelligent cocoon-like cockpit. Built around the Ring Symbiotic Cockpit concept and empowered by Super XiaoAI and Xiaomi’s MiMo large AI model, the vehicle can actively perceive and recognize its environment. Information is conveyed through light, sound, and tactile feedback, while seamlessly connecting with Xiaomi’s “Human × Car × Home” smart ecosystem.
